SERVICE CREATION IN A DISTRIBUTED OBJECT COMPONENT NETWORK

A distributed object component network (DOCN) in which each service is implemented as a set (3A, 3B) of one or more service components. The network comprises a plurality of nodes (11) for executing the service components. A service repository (SR) locates a service indicated by a service request from a client (CT, C1 - C4). The service repository (SR) comprises an ontology database (OD) that contains ontological descriptions of the services. There are one or more service factories (SF) for determining and preparing the set (3A, 3B) of service components (3c - 3m; 71 - 76) required to implement the service located by the service repository (SR).
