PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chrome plated roll for temper-rolling a steel plate and a method for manufacturing the steel plate capable of preventing the generation of roughness and uneven brightness on the steel plate by temper-rolling the steel plate using the chrome plated roll. SOLUTION: The chrome plated roll is characterized in that the center line average roughness Ra of the roll body surface on which chrome-plating has been performed and the maximum value tmax and the minimum value tmin of the chrome plate thickness in the roll peripheral direction can satisfy one of the following formulas (1) or (2): tmin/Ra<=30 and tmin/tmax>=0.75...(1) tmin/Ra>30...(2).
