A MICROWAVE HORN ANTENNA FOR LEVEL MEASUREMENT SYSTEMS

A microwave horn antenna structure suitable for use in time of flight ranging systems and level measurement instruments. The horn antenna comprises a high gain antenna with a small aperture. The horn antenna includes a dielectric lens for focussing and directing transmitted electromagnetic energy to the surface of a material, e.g. liquid, held in a container. The electromagnetic energy reflected from the surface of the material are received by the horn antenna and converted in an electrical signal. The electrical signal is processed to determine the level of the material held in the container.
