PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a miniaturized/lightweight seedling transplanting apparatus for stably planting in high speed pot seedlings (b) raised in a tray (c) and fed on a transverse conveyor belt 7 on a farming field 33. SOLUTION: This seedling transplanting apparatus has the following scheme and works as follows: a traveling machine body 1 is equipped with a transplanting rod 20 extending rearward relative to the advancing direction of the machine body 1 so that a seedling-receiving part 21 provided on the tip of the transplanting rod 20 make a vertical motion with a motional locus of nearly ellipsoidal closed loop, the seedling-receiving part 21 is longitudinally divided into left and right seedling-receiving subparts 21' and 21" with respect to the traveling direction of the machine body 1, seedlings (b) are received in between both the subparts 21' and 21" at a nearly upper limit position of the ascending motion of the seedling-receiving part 21 and stuck into a farming field 33 at a nearly lower limit position of the descending motion thereof and both the subparts move apart from each other left and right; further, the inside of the seedling-receiving part 21 is provided with an extruding member 45 operating so as to extrude the seedlings rearward relative to the advancing direction of the machine body 1 when both the subparts move apart from each other.
