<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide transmission path switchover without loss or out of synchronization of undefined length packets even if undefined length packets such as PPP(point-to-point protocol) packets are mapped at a SDH(synchronous digital hierarchy) frame. SOLUTION: The system is equipped with a POS(packet over SONET) transmission device 9 and SDH transmission device 7, which insert an undefined length packet generated based on data from a prescribed device into the payload section of the same SDH frame according to timing based on the phase of the SDH frame and transmit this SDH frame onto a transmission path of active and standby systems, and a reception means, which receives the SDH frame transmitted via the transmission path of active and standby systems, and reads out the undefined length packet from the SDH frame.</p> |
