Counterweight (34) is made of stamped steel and has neck portion (36) to be received on shaft (26) and an upper portion (38) extending towards compressor pump unit. The upper portion length extension is five times greater than the thickness of the neck portion. The upper portion has back draft portion curving radially outwardly from neck portion to resist flow of lubricant. The outer edge (50) of the upper portion provides an aero foil angle to assist in oil or refrigerant circulation. The compressor pump unit is scroll compressor having a base and spiral wrap extending from base.
