[Also in Division B3] A guide-way strip, for connection to a bed of a machine tool for example, has longitudinal integral side-portions which are adhered to the bed. In an embodiment, a guide-way strip has a bearing surface a, Fig. 1; a supporting face b; and side-portions c, having grooves d therein. The strip, having shoulders e, is mounted on a bed f, Fig. 2, and is fixed in position by means of adhesive located in gaps formed between the side-portions c and the bed f. Superfluous adhesive is collected by the grooves d. In another embodiment, both the guideway strip and the bed f, Fig. 4, are provided with grooves g which are at 45 degrees to the surface b of the strip. The adhesive enters the V-shaped channels formed by the grooves g and keys the strip and bed together. The ends of the strips are at an angle of 30 degrees as shown in Fig. 3, so as to provide a continuous transitional area between each strip. |
