PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the amount of an oligomer generated in melt molding to thereby provide a process for producing a polyester resin composition excellent in the capability of controlling the deposition of an oligomer, surface properties and productivity. SOLUTION: A polyester composition is brought into contact with a solution having a temperature of 30-150 deg.C, a pH of above 5 and 9 or lower, and a phosphorus compound content of 0.01 wt.% or higher and below 50 wt.%. The polyester composition is also subjected to contact treatment in such a manner that the content of at least one element selected from germanium, antimony, titanium, silicon, lithium, sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium and manganese, other than the particles of the polyester resin composition is below 300 ppm.
