PHOTONIC CRYSTAL FIBER

摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an SMF with a large core diameter by decreasing the refractive index of the core in a photonic crystal fiber. SOLUTION: The photonic crystal fiber has a porous part as the clad 6 having a large number of pores 7 running in the axial direction of the optical fiber and also has pores 8 in the core 5. The diameter of the pores 7 in the clad 6 is larger than the diameter of the pores 8 in the core 5. Thereby, the equivalent difference in the refractive index between the core 5 and the clad 6 can be decreased to increase the core diameter which satisfies the single mode conditions.
