<p>A method is provided for transmitting data from a first endpoint application (31) in a computer (30) to a second endpoint application (34) in a remote computer (35) via a network (33). The second application (34) writes, in a receive queue (40) of shared memory (39) in the first application (31), descriptors indicating the availability of receive buffers (37) in the second application for receiving data. When the first application (31) has data (46) for transmission, the first application checks the receive queue (40) for descriptors indicating the availability of receive buffers (37). If receive buffers (37) are found to be available, the first application (31) transmits at least part of the data via the network (33).</p> |
