PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing nickel powder by a liquid phase process by which variation in particle diameter among production lots is made little, and the control of the grain size can easily be performed. SOLUTION: The state of a metallic salt solution is controlled so that, provided that the precipitation potential in a solution obtained by removing nickel from the metallic salt solution is defined as A (V), and the precipitation potential of nickel in a solution obtained by removing copper from the metallic salt solution is defined as B (V), the precipitation potential A (V) of copper in the solution obtained by removing nickel from the metallic salt solution reaches the range expressed by the inequality of B<A<(B+0.55). This metallic salt solution is mixed with a reducing agent solution, and are brought into reduction reaction to generate nickel powder. Further, the control of the precipitation potential A of copper is performed by adding a complexing agent forming a complex with copper.
