PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a waterproof connector wherein a rear holder can be prevented from shifting to the real locking position by mistake by surely retaining this rear holder when inserting a terminal or an electric wire. SOLUTION: The waterproof connector is provided with a water-proof member 60 which is fitted and inserted into the base end of a housing 20 and in which an insertion hole of the electric wire is formed, and the rear holder 70 which is fitted and inserted from the outward of the water-proof member 60 via a temporary locking position to the real locking position, while the diameter of this insertion hole is reduced at the real locking position, and which is closely connected with the electric wire to penetrate this hole. After the terminal and the electric wire are inserted into the insertion hole at the temporary locking position of the rear holder 70, the rear holder 70 is shifted to the rear locking position. The rear holder 70 is retained at the temporary locking position between the housing 20 and the rear holder 70, and a temporary locking position retaining mechanism 80 capable of being shifted to the real locking position is installed only when a state to retain this temporary locking position is released by adding a releasing force.
