A magnetic recording medium comprising: a non-magnetic base film; and a magnetic recording layer which is provided on the non-magnetic base film and which contains a filler, a binder resin and surface-modified magnetic particles having an average particle diameter of from 0.01 to 0.7 mu m and comprising magnetic particles and an organosilane compound, obtainable from a silane monomer, coated on surface of the magnetic particles by means of a dry-mixing method.
