PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the variation in the density when an image is formed by almost equalizing the modulation characteristics of the light emitting elements of an array of several light emitting elements which are two- dimensionally arranged. SOLUTION: A laser array 10 has several light emitting elements 14 which are arranged in grid form in the center of a base substrate 12 and are connected to several electrode pads 16 which are provided around them by wire 18. Since each piece of the wire 18 has the same length and the width, the area of the wire 18 is equal and the stray capacitance between the pieces of wire 18 is equal. In this way, the modulation characteristics of the light emitting elements 14 become almost equal.
