PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a soot blower device which prevents generation of thermal shock at the tip thereof and prevents breakage or thermal fatigue at the tip. SOLUTION: The soot blower device 35 stands ready outside a heat exchanger when not operated and inserted into the heat exchanger for evaporation of steam when operated. The device is provided with a lance pipe 37 having a nozzle 39 for evaporating steam in the vicinity of the tip of the device, a feed pipe 13 which is disposed in the lance pipe 37 and supplied with steam from outside, a driving mechanism for transferring the lance pipe 37 and the feed pipe 13 into the heat exchanger, and a buffer 41 having a given shape, which is disposed, in the lance pipe 37, between the tip portion of the lance pipe 37 and the nozzle 39.
