PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a raising/lowering chair adjustable into an arbitrary height and direction and capable of restricting the rotation. SOLUTION: This raising/lowering chair is provided with a vertical base part pipe erected on a base to be mounted on a floor, an intermediate pipe having a lock plate formed with multiple lock grooves in the outer circumferential part and non-rotatably and vertically slidingly provided to the base part pipe, a gas cylinder for driving the raising/lowering of the intermediate pipe disposed in the base part pipe, a rotary frame rotatably supported by the intermediate pipe, a lock lever having a claw member to be engaged with the lock groove and rotatably fitted to the rotary frame, a spring energizing the lock lever so that its claw member is engaged with the lock groove, and a raising/ lowering lever rotatably fitted to the rotary frame and capable of extending/ contracting the gas cylinder by urging a lock projection of the gas cylinder.
