It is intended to provide excellent model animals for corneal epithelial damages; an excellent method of evaluating therapeutic effects of drugs by using these model animals; and drugs screened by using this evaluation metho d. Model animals for corneal epithelial damages characterized by having been subjected to a treatment of causing corneal epithelial damage symptoms by bringing an absorbent material in to contact with the corneal face to thereb y generate a difference in osmotic pressure between the inside and outside of corneal epithelial cells; a method of evaluating drugs characterized by usin g these model animals; and drugs screened by this evaluation method.
