<p>A curable and carbonaceous cement paste composition comprises catalyst, carbon filler, a polymerizable monomeric system (a) and a furan derivative solvent (b). (a) comprises a dialkyl ester of an aromatic tetracarboxylic acid or an aromatic diamine; and a monoalkyl ester of an acid selected from 5-norbornene-2,3-dicarboxylic acid or phthalic acid. A curable and carbonaceous cement paste composition (A) comprises (wt.%) a catalyst, a carbon filler (preferably carbonaceous particles) (about 20 - 60, preferably 40), (a) (about 7 - 30, preferably 15) and (b) (about 20 - 60, preferably 40). (a) comprises a dialkyl ester of an aromatic tetracarboxylic acid or an aromatic diamine; and a monoalkyl ester of an acid selected from 5-norbornene-2,3-dicarboxylic acid or phthalic acid. Independent claims are included for the following: (I) preparing (A) involving curing a mixture of the catalyst, the carbon filler, (a) and (b) at about >= 200[deg]C; (II) bonding carbon bodies involving: (i) coating at least two carbon bodies with a pre-coat at a bonding site until the bonding site is substantially saturated with the pre-coat; (ii) applying (A) to the bonding site; (iii) setting the carbon bodies together at the bonding site forming a joined carbon body; and (iv) heating the joined carbon body. Before the step (i), at least two carbon bodies are bonded together. The pre-coat comprises (wt.%): (b) (about 65 - 85); (a) (about 15 - 35, preferably 27) dissolved in (b); and the catalyst, which is added to the dissolved (a) in (b); and (III) a high temperature adhesive system comprising: the pre-coat for substantially saturating the carbon body at the bonding site; (A) for applying to the carbon body at the bonding site over the pre-coat. The catalyst of (A) is dissolved in a second portion of (a) (about 20 - 60 wt.%). (a) of (A) is dissolved in a second effective amount of the second portion of (b) (20 - 60 wt.%) and mixed with the carbonaceous particles and the catalyst to form (A).</p> |
