PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To respond to a call from an interphone slave device, when the residents are not present in a room where an interphone master device is set, and even if only an elderly person is present. SOLUTION: This intercom is constituted of a slave device 1 and a master device 2 connected via a signal line L10 to the slave device 1; the slave device is provided with a calling button 13 for enabling a visitor to call the master device and a slave device loudspeaker 12 for emitting a voice from the master device; the master device is provided with an at-home setting circuit 24, connected to an at-home button 242 for setting and releasing the at-home state of a resident and an an-home indicator 241 for displaying the at-home state; a voice-synthesizing circuit 25 connected to the at-home setting circuit; a call- detecting circuit for detecting a call, and for outputting a calling start triggering signal S292 to the at-home setting circuit; a calling sound generating circuit 282 for generating a calling sound, according to the calling sound start trigger signal S291 from the call-detecting circuit; and a master device loudspeaker 27 for ringing and outputting the calling sound.
