PURPOSE: A piston apparatus for a shock absorber is provided to cut down manufacturing and maintenance cost, and to increase the productivity by tuning the effective diameter of compression and expansion passages with rebound and bound control disks. CONSTITUTION: A piston apparatus for a shock absorber is composed of a cylinder(40) filled with oil; a piston rod(30) inserted and protruded from the cylinder with reciprocating to flow oil in the cylinder; a piston(50) dividing the cylinder into an upper liquid chamber(41) and a lower liquid chamber(42), and having a compression passage(52) flowing oil from the lower liquid chamber to the upper liquid chamber in extending the piston rod and an expansion passage(51) flowing oil from the upper liquid chamber to the lower liquid chamber in compressing the piston rod; first and second recesses(71,72) formed cylindrically around the expansion passage and the compression passage; a bound control disk(80) inserted to the first recess and composed of plural control holes for tuning the expansion passage; and a rebound control disk(90) inserted to the second recess and composed of plural control holes for tuning the compression passage of the piston.
