PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tool for attaching and detaching the connector of an optical fiber which can prevent a cord from being nipped between a control lever and a handle part when the control lever is operated. SOLUTION: The tool for attaching and detaching the connector is equipped with a guide piece 5 to insert the optical fiber, a handle part 1 provided at the base part side of the guide piece 5, lugs 2 which are provided at the tip part side of the guide piece 5 and inserted into the connector of the optical fiber, a control lever 4 provided with a gap E which allows the opening and closing operation of the lugs 2 from the lateral side of the handle part 1, and a covering member Y to protect the gap E.
