PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form an image in course of suppressing the consumption of toner while maintaining the expression of the image formed in an ordinary mode even at the time of selecting a toner saving mode. SOLUTION: A patch image is formed in proper timing, and the optimum value of a density adjusting factor for forming a toner image with target density for toner saving which is lower than reference target density and obtained based on the density of the patch image (step S24). Then, the consumption of the toner in the toner saving mode is less than that in the ordinary mode because the toner image is formed with the target density for toner saving in the case of performing printing in the toner saving mode. Since the toner image is formed by adjusting the image density without thinning dots from the dot image of an original image, the image is formed while maintaining the expression of the image formed in the ordinary mode. |
