1278550 Coating apparatus SCHWEITER ENG WORKS Ltd 16 Nov 1970 [18 Nov 1969] 54509/70 Heading D1L Apparatus for conditioning a yarn or thread comprises a conditioning device 6 which includes a drive shaft 13, a trough 8 for storing the conditioning agent, a finishing roll 9 removably and magnetically coupled to the drive shaft 13 in order that the finishing roll 9 during rotation passes through the trough 8, the finishing roll 9 and the drive shaft 13 being maintained in a mutual co-axial relationship by centreing means. The finishing roll 9 includes a front flange 10 of magnetic material which is magnetically coupled to a holding disc 11 via a ring-shaped magnetic disc 15 which is secured in a recess of the disc 11, the latter of which is connected to one end of a shaft 13. To ensure coaxial alignment of the finishing roll 9 to the drive shaft 13 a centreing shoulder 16 which widens conically outward is provided on front flange 10 and the holding disc 11 engages flange 10 of the centreing shoulder 16 to provide alignment. Alternatively the magnet 15 may be located in the flange 10, or in both the flange 10 and the disc 11 with proper pole orientation. In another embodiment, to ensure coaxial alignment of the roll 9 with the shaft 10 the shaft 13 is extended in the form of a point which then engages a corresponding conical depression in the centre of the front flange 10 of the finishing roll 9. The finishing roll 9 can be easily separated from the driving shaft 13.
