PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent accumulation of fiber-like cotton in a wide range at the end of a suction slit in a collecting device. SOLUTION: This collecting device of a spinning machine for condensing drawn but untwisted fiber strands has a condensing zone installed just under a pair of front rollers of a drawing device. An air-permeable conveying belt guided on the slide surface of a suction channel conveys the fiber strands through a condensing zone. A suction slit is installed within the slide surface. One of lateral edges of the suction slit is designed as a slanted fiber guiding edge and the slanted fiber guiding edge transversely fixes the position of the fiber strand toward the moving direction of the belt. The suction slit is installed with a laterally spread region, in the terminal region, which is wider than that of the intermediate region arranged in the upstream of the terminal region and the laterally spread region is installed on the side of the suction slit facing to the surface apart from the fiber guiding edge.
