PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader that can quickly process a read image appropriately to the type of an original by quickly discriminating the type of the original. SOLUTION: This image reader 1 quickly reads the original 5 by means of a first image inputting section 10 before a second image inputting section 11 reads the original 5 and discriminates the type of the original 5 in at least two or more types by means of a type-of-original discriminating section 16 based on the output data of the first image inputting section 10. Then the reader 1 changes the color correction by means of a color correcting section in accordance with the discriminated type of the original 5. Therefore, this image reader 1 can quickly discriminate the type of the original 5 without performing pre- scanning similar to normal scanning before the normal scanning unlike the conventional example and can quickly perform image reading and image processing in accordance with the type of the original 5. |
