PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrolyte component, having superior charge transport capability and high molecular liquid crystal properties without substantially volatilizing, and to provide an electrochemical cell containing the electrolyte component and having superior durability and ionic conduction property. SOLUTION: This electrolyte component has a side chain, having a cationic part or an anionic part in a polyalkylene oxide main chain and a counter ion of the side chain, and the side chain or the counter ion contains polyalkylene oxide, having liquid crystal property. Moreover, it s preferable that the polyalkylene oxide include a structure expressed in the following formula (I), wherein A denotes a substituent having the anionic part or the cationic part, Y denotes the counter ion of A, and at least either of A and Y has liquid crystal property. |
