<p>The apparatus comprises a horizontal rod with a vertical transverse hold through it near one end, sliding in a sleeve, the end of which opens into a storage vessel containing the material; outside the vessel, teh sleeve has a vertical hole at least as large as the hole through the rod and below the rod, and another hole above ther rod, at least as small as the hole in the rod; these two holes in the sleeve are coaxial, the lower one feeding via a pipe to the receiving vessel, and the upper hole being connected to a pipe which supplies gas or liquid to project the measured quantity of material downwards into the receiving vessel. Specifically, the rod is oscillate horizontally longitudinally by a solenoid. The apparatus is esp. suitable for dosing small quantities of solid catalysts or chemicals into highly reactive processes, esp. gaseous phase polymerisation at high or low pressure.</p> |
