PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reciprocating type tool having a stroke adjusting function of a tip tool effective for simplifying a structure and reducing the cost. SOLUTION: In an electric reciprocating saw for converting rotation of an electric motor to reciprocating linear motion with a crank mechanism 10 and transmitting the motion to a slider, a rotor 12 equivalent to a crank arm is provided with a changeover lever 21 for changing stroke having a connection pin 14 equivalent to a crank pin at its one end via a support pin 22 in a range regulated by a long hole 23 and a stopper pin 24. The changeover lever 21 is relatively turned with respect to the rotor 12, and the stroke of the slider (blade) is adjusted by switching inter-shaft distance from the rotation center of the rotor 12 and the axial center of the connection pin 14 to L or L1. The relative turning of the changeover lever 21 with respect to the rotor 12 is performed by switching the rotation direction (normal rotation or reverse rotation) of the electric motor.
