PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carbon fiber filament yarn having no false twist, having neither breakage nor nap, excellent in filament yarn openability, and capable of forming prepreg having no unevenness on its surface, and to provide a highly efficient method for producing the carbon fiber filament yarns without causing mutual interference with adjoining filament yarns in their turning. SOLUTION: This method for producing carbon fiber filament yarns comprises running many carbon fiber precursor filament yarns in a state of a sheet-form arrangement and treating the filament yarns in various kinds of baking steps, wherein the carbon fiber precursor filament yarns (F) are passed through a comb guide (1) and turned with being put around a plain roll (2) at least when turning around the filament yarns (F) in the baking steps. The obtained carbon fiber filament yarn have <=0.2 turn/20 m false twisted number when the filament yarns are wound out by 20 m and cause no gap among the filament yarns when the filament yarns are spread to a width of 50 g/m2 fiber basis weight per 12,000 filaments.
