PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide footwear having a structure with which a great health promotion effect is obtainable by a sufficient amount of the minus ions absorbed into the body of a wearing person. SOLUTION: The upper of the sandal has exterior sheet 31 which protects outer side, interior sheet 33 which is opened with plural holes and protects the surface to be brought into contact with the instep and minus ion sheet 32 which is disposed to be held between the exterior sheet 31 and the interior sheet and consist of materials forming minus ions. The minus ion sheet 32 is sewn or adhered near its outer peripheral end to the interior sheet 33 and is so arranged as to produce slight clearances (spaces) therebetween. When the person wearing the sandals walks, each clearance is deformed according to the external force from the instep and the minus ions formed from the minus ion sheet 32 are released from the holes of the interior sheet 33 to the instep by the effect same as the effect of a pump by a change in the volume of the clearance.
