PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an authentication system, a service providing system and an authentication server that can enhance the security when the server authenticates a portable information terminal. SOLUTION: The server 8 authenticates the portable information terminal 1 on the basis of position information received from the portable information terminal 1 and provides an on-line business transaction service to the portable information terminal 1 on the condition that the authentication result is correct. A possessor of the portable information terminal 1 register's as an area providing a correct authentication result, its own home and its working place or the like. Even when the portable information terminal 1 is missing or stolen by a 3rd party, so long as the portable information terminal 1 stays in an area providing a negative authentication result, the provision of the on-line business transaction service from the server 8 to the portable information terminal 1 can be avoided so as to avoid illegal use of the on-line business transaction service. |
