PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for waveform information indication easily and intuitively understandably showing the characteristics of waveform data even in the case where waveform detail is compressedly indicated on a waveform observation device such as digital oscilloscope and observation of it is difficult. SOLUTION: Digital waveform data contained in a memory are separated into a plurality of time divisions and compression indication data of every time division are produced. With the compression indication data, waveform indication is performed on a screen. Out of the digital waveform data at every time division, specified characteristics of the waveform are extracted, and based on the extracted characteristics, values indicating the characteristics specified for the time divisions are calculated. The waveform indication part at every time division indicated on the screen based on the compression-indication data at every time division is controlled to be indicated in a state reflecting the values indicating the calculated characteristics.
