The printing plate comprises a rolled and embossed aluminium support whose surface has a coarse structure of pits, on which a fine structure of indents produced by electrochemical roughening is superimposed. The indents have a diameter of from 0.1 to 6 mu m, and the average roughness Ra of the surface of the embossed aluminium support is in the range from 0.63 to 0.82 mu m. <IMAGE>
