PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for managing a standby time about a ring group incoming call in a private branch exchange is provided to offer a service to many clients within a suitable time by processing the call terminated to a ring group representative number to be different from a generating incoming call. CONSTITUTION: If a call is terminated to a ring group representative number through an office line connection unit in a T1 time, a CPU requests termination to a ring group. If all extensions are busy, the CPU receives a ring group termination impossible response in a T2 time. The CPU registers the call as a standby call in a ring group queue. The CPU monitors all extensions. If a ring group queue standby time(T4-T5) elapses, the CPU deletes the standby call from the ring group queue in a T6 time. The CPU controls a cutting guidance broadcasting unit, the office line connection unit, a switch unit in a T7 time for transmitting a cutting guidance broadcasting outputted from the cutting guidance broadcasting unit to a caller through the office line connection unit and outputting a cutting signal so that the office line connection unit disconnects the office line connection.
