PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for off-line setting up a finger capable of improving operating efficiency of a transfer feeder by weight-saving through simplification of the composition of a transfer bar. SOLUTION: The finger plate 13 per every fixed transfer bar 11 by an advanced movement is evacuated so positioned not to interfere with an upright, and the finger plate 13 deviated from the fixed transfer bar 11 is ultimately held by the plate holding stock 50 and exhausted to the area where the off-line setting-up is ready together with the moving transfer bar 12. By this way, the transfer feeder evacuates the finger plate 13 using its original movement, and this method helps to save weight as dispensing with any air cylinder nor any guide rail for evacuation, and to improve operating efficiency of the transfer feeder, compared with the method by which the finger plate 13 is removed and evacuated from above the static fixed transfer bar 11.
