PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a method for partially rendering the ejection opening forming plane (face plane) of an ink jet head subjected to water repellent treatment hydrophilic by modifying the surface of a water repellent layer into a hydrophilic layer in which durability is enhanced, as compared with a prior art method where the water repellent layer is removed along with underlying resin, because the underlying resin can be rendered hydrophilic even if it is composed of an unablative material (e.g. CR material of Z) and the removing work causes no level difference at the end part. SOLUTION: The ink jet recording head is provided with an ink jet head, a water repellent layer, a process for applying excimer light beam selectively through a substance for accelerating hydrophilicity, and a hydrophilic region comprising a modified water repellent layer formed selectively on the surface thereof.
