PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem that a slanting line looks ragged when picture quality correcting processing is performed to the slanting line in picture quality correcting processing. SOLUTION: In the television receiver provided with an interlace/progressive converting device, which has a slanting correcting processing for performing slanting correcting processing, for performing interlace/progressive conversion to an inputted interlace signal and a picture quality correcting processing circuit for performing picture quality correcting processing such as horizontal high frequency intensifying processing or version high frequency intensifying processing to a progressive signal outputted from the interlace/progressive converting device, by providing a signal expanding circuit for expanding a signal outputted from the slanting correcting circuit existent inside the interlace/ progressive converting device, picture quality correcting processing, with which the slanting line does not become ragged, can be performed.
