PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a message transmission system which can control to display a message lamp of a telephone set without specially adding and converting an existent telephone exchange, and can simply introduce a voice mail device. SOLUTION: A telephone exchange 1 is connected to a voice mail device 2 via a speech line (telephone line) 3, and the voice mail device 2 controls presence or absence of a speech message addressed to a plurality of telephone sets 5, and transmits, to the telephone exchanger 1, a message store display instruction for a message lamp 6 of the telephone set 5 by a speech signal (frequency signal).
