PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical pickup device which can obtain a tracking error signal by a DPP method when many kinds of optical disks different in the optical disk structure are recorded/reproduced, and which can use a CTC method even in the case of reproducing any optical disk. SOLUTION: The optical pickup device including an irradiation optical system, an optical detection optical system, and a servo signal operation part 410 is equipped with a grating 32 element which is disposed in the optical path of an optical beam of the irradiation optical system, and which is orientated so as to generate 0th order diffracted light, ±1st order diffracted light, and ±2nd order diffracted light from the optical beam, to form respective ±2nd order diffracted light spots on the tracks adjacent to both sides of the track on which a 0th order diffracted light spot is formed, and to form ±1st order diffracted light spots on respective centers of the 0th order diffracted light and the ±2nd order diffracted light, wherein a photo detector 40 is equipped with independent light-receiving elements which receive returned light from the 0th order diffracted light, the ±1st order diffracted light, and the ±2nd order diffracted light spots, respectively. |
