<p>A clutch arrangement for a power tool having a multi-speed transmission (16), the clutch arrangement includes a clutch member (700) and a follower member (724). The clutch member (700) is coupled to a member (310) of the transmission (16) that is proximate the torsional input of the transmission (16) and which must be in a non-rotating position to permit the transmission (16) to perform a torque multiplication operation. The follower member (724) is biased into engagement with the clutch member (700) to inhibit relative rotation therebetween. As the clutch member (700) and the transmission member (310) are coupled to one another, the transmission (16) is able to perform a torque multiplication operation. When, however, the torsion that is exerted onto the clutch member (700) is sufficient to overcome the frictional engagement between the follower (724) and clutch members (700), the clutch member (700), and the transmission member (310) rotate, thereby inhibiting the capability of the transmission (16) to continue to perform the torque multiplication operation.</p> |
