<p>A tree-like data structure (22) is adapted for use by an automatic system for simulating intelligent communication reactions (36) of the system in response to user inputs (34), and comprises a plurality of nodes (24x), at least one of the nodes (24x) being associated with trigger data that specifies at least one user input (34) that may lead to triggering the node (24x), at least one of the nodes (24x) being associated with reaction data that specifies at least one system reaction (36), wherein the arrangement of the nodes (24x) in the tree-like data structure (22) reflects the different communication contexts for which the nodes (24x) are intended, the communication context of a child node (24B, 24C) being a specialization of the communication context of its parent node (24A). A method uses this data structure for simulating intelligent communication reactions of the automatic system in response to user inputs (34).
