The invention relates to an apparatus for practising gymnastics and physical training, intended for the use at home as well as for training the sportsmen who particularly practise ski, gymnastics and rowing. According to the invention, the apparatus comprises a pedestal (1) placed on the ground and forming one piece with two fixed arms (2) located on the same side relative to a rotary plate (5), whereon the user steps with both feet. On the outer cylindrical surface of the rotary plate (5) in some parallel grooves (d) there are wound some resilient cords (17) disposed symmetrically on one side and the other of the rotary plate (5). On the side of the fixed arms (2) a recess (e) is cut in the rotary plate (5) said recess allowing the fastening of the ends of the resilient cords (17) to the rotary plate (5), the other ends being fastened to the pedestal (1) by means of an adjustable support (20). The resilient cords (17) are covered by collapsible guards (24) disposed symmetrically and fastened to the pedestal (1). The upper face of the rotary plate (5) is provided with a calibrated scale (o) located under an indicating needle (22) with an adjustable position, fastened to the pedestal (1).
