PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an article sorting system which can quickly perform measurement processing and sorting processing of the article by acquiring minimum information needed for sorting processing. SOLUTION: On the basis of specific information on the bar codes F attached to containers B to D, the containers B to D are sorted according to classes to conveyers 10 to 12. A transshipment apparatus 25 is driven to load farm products Ab to Ae held in the containers B to D onto a tray G, or the like, and carry them with a conveyer 31. A measuring and sorting apparatus 32 is driven to measure and judge the predetermined items of farm products Ab to Ae placed on the trays G, or the like, by holding them with a pair of supporting bodies 53, and the obtained information is stored in correspondence with the address information on the farm products Ab to Ae. When the farm products Ab to Ae are carried to a sorting part (m) to (p) corresponding to the judgment, the farm products Ab to Ae held by a pair of supporting body 53 are classified and discharged to the sorting part (m) to (p). An aligning device 54 is driven to throw the farm products Ab to Ae into cups Hb to He and carry the cups to box-packing parts (r) to (u). A box-packing apparatus 34 is driven to pack the arm products Ab to Ae placed on the cups Hb to He into boxes according to classification.
