MACHINING CENTER WITH MANUAL TOOL CHANGE FUNCTION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow an operator to directly change a tool on a spindle head by hands in a machining center equipped with a high-speed automatic tool changer(ATC). SOLUTION: The spindle head 1 capable of three-dimensional movement and positioning has an unclamping arm 4 for pushing out a drawbar 3 built in a spindle 2. For a tool change, the spindle head 1 is moved selectively to an automatic tool change position A where the tip of the unclamping arm 4 is in contact with an ATC unclamping cam 6 rotatively synchronized with an ATC arm 5 to provide an automatic change of the tool 8, or to a manual tool change position where the tip of the unclamping arm 4 is pressed direct against the ATC unclamping cam 6 kept immovable and the unclamping arm 4 is swung to unclamp the tool 8.
