PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seam welding device and its method in which when seam welding both edge parts of two blanks having thicknesses different from each other, the resultant finished products can be stacked in a horizontal or nearly horizontal state. SOLUTION: In an area where a thick plate blank and a thin plate blank W2 are seam welded, there is arranged a projection forming means having an upper die 192 which is moved vertically by a cylinder and a lower die 193 provided in a jig member 73 on which the thin plate blank W2 is mounted. Thereby, a projection W2B is formed on the thin plate blank W2 of the finished product every production of the prescribed number of finished products obtained by the seam welding of the thick plate blank and thin plate blank W2. Therefore, when stacking multiple finished products, the height positions of both thick and thin plate blanks in each product become the same or nearly same levels due to the projection W2B.
