PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to suppress the degradation in a contrast by the leakage of the light from light shielding films and the disturbance in the orientation of liquid crystal molecules by eliminating the recessed parts arising heretofore in the boundary parts between coloring layers and the light shielding films, thereby flattening the entire surface of the light shielding films. SOLUTION: This liquid crystal display device is formed within 0.1μm in the difference in the surface level of the regions included in at least the picture element parts of the light shielding films 3 of a color filter substrate 14 and within 0.1μm in the difference in level between the light shielding films 3 and the coloring layers 2. The difference in the surface level over the entire surface of the light shielding films 3 is otherwise confined within 0.1μm. The processing for production includes a stage for forming the light shielding films by back exposure after the formation of the coloring layers 2 on the color filter substrate 14. The process also includes a stage for applying a pressurizing means or thermal pressuring means in order to flatten the surface of the color filter substrate 14 before subjecting the light shielding films 3 to post baking after applying a material to be formed as the light shielding films 3 on the color filter substrate 14 formed with the coloring layers 2, then subjecting the coating to exposure and development treatments. |
