PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic camera in which image data is prevented effectively from being missed due to damage of a recording medium, or the like. SOLUTION: At first, a system controller 29 records image data taken in from a CCD 14 at the time of image pick up on a recording medium A20. Subsequently, when a command from an operating section 30 is interrupted upon elapsing a specified time and a transition is made from a normal mode where the camera body is operated in normal mode to a power save mode where power consumption is suppressed, or when power supply to the camera body is interrupted by turning off a power switch 32, image data recorded on the recording medium A20 while being set to prohibit erasure is copied to a recording medium B22 thus executing backup of image data at an appropriate timing without having any effect on the image pick up operation of a user. |
