The waveguide crossing has a first integrated optical waveguide (6) and a second (7) that cross each other, whereby the second waveguide is interrupted in the crossing region (8) and is of greater width after the crossing region than before it in the signal direction (B). The second waveguide is tilted with respect to the first waveguide. Independent claims are also included for the following: an arrangement for monitoring the signals of a number of integrated optical waveguides.
