PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact and high transfer rate compatible rotary head drum capable of preventing crosstalk caused by a recording current, and any constraint on a slow range. SOLUTION: A recording magnetic head 13 and a reproducing magnetic head 14 are arranged at a prescribed interval in an annular groove part 11 provided in a rotary drum 7. This annular groove part 11 is provided with a shield member 31 for covering the recording magnetic head 13 and blocking the flowing of an electromagnetic wave from the recording magnetic head 13 into the reproducing magnetic head 14 caused by a recording current. An annular projected part is formed in the outer peripheral edge of the attaching surfaces of the magnetic heads 13 and 14 of the rotary drum 7, and a gap is formed between the tips of projected rib parts formed on both sides of a housing part covering the recording magnetic head 13 in the shield member 31 and the annular projected part.
