The present invention relates to: a genetic marker for distinguishing between Angelica gigas and Angelica japonica, which are medical herbs; a primer set for detecting whether genetic variations of insertion and indel exist or not; a composition or kit for distinguishing between Angelica gigas and Angelica japonica, comprising the primer set; and a method for distinguishing between Angelica gigas and Angelica japonica. The genetic marker of the present invention and the method for distinguishing between Angelica gigas and Angelica japonica using the same enable a user to easily and accurately distinguish between Angelica gigas and Angelica japonica only by checking the size of PCR products.
